On
my buying trip to Asia, I aim to find that special rug that distinguishes
"RUG as ART". My criterion to select a carpet includes the
softness of the design, quality of the wool, consistency of the vegetable
dyes and the brilliance of the wash. I appraise the workmanship of each
piece by studying the tightness, the regularity and evenness of the
hand knotting as seen on the back of the rug. When choosing carpets
at the weavers workshop, I do not focus on one colour at a time but
on the overall effect created by the colour combination of these hand
made rugs. Before leaving for a buying trip, I brainstorm with some
of Toronto's finest designers to know the latest trends and new colours
